Here's to Life

So the last few weeks have been...interesting. First of all nothing has happened with Roberto, so sorry to anyone who got their hopes up. I'm sorry but I got sick of being the one initiating everything. I don't want to be the one doing all the work in a relationship, so goodbye Roberto.
Now let me share a...I guess funny story. So a couple of weeks ago I wasn't having a very good day. This day happened to be a Saturday, which are kind of the bane of my existence sometimes. My day started out well with time at the temple, and I'm glad that I had that time of spirituality because after that my day went downhill. After the temple I went to work at the chocolate factory. It was the Saturday just before Valentine's day and it was surprisingly slow, and when it's slow at work I have a lot of time to think, sometime too much time to think, and when I think it's usually a bad thing. Well it was the week after my big date and I hadn't heard from Roberto, and I had even tried inviting him to a game night, but nothin'. So I was trying to figure out what I did to scare this boy away because that seems to be my M.O. Well I was getting depressed and them my boss Ben came in to the store for a minute. Ben is the one who set me up with Roberto, and Ben is determined to get me married off. He also thinks that I should do everything, not really but sometimes it feels that way.. Anyway Ben came in and I was telling him how upset I was. Does this make me sound like a baby? I really don't understand the whole relationship thing, I'm trying to, but I seem to just make a mess out of nothing. I'm not desperate either, well maybe a little bit. Give me a break I'm going through a hard time. Which brings me to what made my day even better. So after talking to Ben and him making me cry, I left work to go decorate heart shaped cookies with Kymn, her boyfriend and her family. Well after cookies Kymn and I were supposed to go ring shopping. Well there ended up being a slight change of plans. Kymn's boyfriend decided he wanted to come along. So now it was me and the happy couple. Well we ended up at the mall and while they were choosing rings I decided to wander off for a minute because I felt very out of place. Well when I wandered back into the jewelry store I ran into another one of my best friends looking at rings with her new fiancee. Now I'm happy for both of my friends but it was not a good day for me to find out that two of my best friends are getting married, and one of them is the person I was supposed to be moving in with in June, which apparently isn't happening now. Anyway after I ran into Erika I had to go wander off again. I ended up in a corner of Barnes and Noble trying to hide my puffy eyes behind a book. It wasn't until Kymn text me that I went out of hiding and wandered back to the jewelry store. Russ was purchasing a ring as I walked in and Erika came over to talk to me. After that Russ took Kymn and I out to dinner. I'm pretty sure he felt bad for me. When we got to the restaurant there was about a half hour wait and I had left my phone in his car so I went back to his car and I just broke down and sat on the curb and cried. Luckily Kymn was there to comfort me.
It's stupid that being single bugs me as much as it does, but I think I'm just frustrated with the fact that I'm in my twenties and have never had a boyfriend. Plus it gets annoying being the third wheel all the time. I don't mind hanging out with my friends and their boyfriends but sometimes it can get awkward being there, even though they claim they want me to hang out with them, sometimes I feel like I'm intruding and that they're just trying to be nice because they feel bad for me.
I'm trying to see the positive in this.
So here's a list of reasons why it is great being single (Some of these may be a bit irrational but I'm trying to make myself feel better ;) ):
  • Being single means you don't have anything or anyone holding you back. If I had a boyfriend or was married there is no way I would be going to England in May.
  • Since I don't have anyone depending on me I can be spontaneous and take a road trip to anywhere if I wanted.
  • I don't have to check in with anyone.
  • I only have to pay for one at the movies, at dinner, whatever.
  • I don't have to worry about what my significant other is doing or if he is cheating on me or doing something stupid.
  • I can flirt with whomever I want.
  • I don't have to share anything with anyone.
  • I can look at hot guys and fantasize about them.
  • I can cry at a movie and not have my boyfriend make fun of me.
  • I can watch all of my Jane Austen and other sappy romance movies without a guy complaining.
  • I can be myself and not have anyone judge me or try to change me.
  • I can travel, go to school, do pretty much whatever I choose without having to compromise.
  • I don't have to compromise.
  • I can have a cardboard cutout of Legolas in my bedroom ;) yes I still have him, and Edward too.
Some of these may a bit irrational and things that I would probably never do but they are some awesome things about being single. I know I'm not ready to get married but I'm going through a slump at the moment but just because relationships aren't working out for me right now doesn't mean that other things shouldn't work out.
In May I will be graduating, then I'll be going to London for two weeks, then I'll be working all summer to save money so I can move to Salt Lake with my friend Allison, fingers crossed. This is just one trial I have to work through and I know someday, in the Lord's time, I will eventually find a man who will love me and treat me like a queen. Until then I will enjoy being single and seeing the world.

If you think of any other reasons why it is awesome to be single please comment and share. I need more reasons to love being single.

Most Miraculous Monday

Now my title might be a bit exaggerated, but this experience I'm about to share felt like a miracle to me.
As many of you know I work in a library, and one of my jobs is working with ILL or InterLibrary Loan. I'm not going to explain what ILL is because that would be boring, all you need to know is that working in ILL I package books to be sent to other libraries.
Well on Monday I had a lot of packages to run over to the post office, and when I have too many packages to carry I take a little red flyer wagon. Well on this day I had a bunch of packages and a box full of magazines that I was taking to someone. I went and dropped off the packages to the post office and I still had the box of magazines. I was turning the wagon around when I hit a crack when the wagon and the box of magazines just tipped right over. Before I even had a chance to bend down to pick them up three guys from three different directions ran over and picked up the wagons and magazines for me. I was shocked! I thought that I must have stepped into a time-space continuum that transported me to a different universe. Seriously no one does anything like that anymore, most people look away or walk past. I thanked them and they all went their separate ways.
As I was walking away I felt like I was in a haze. I remember what happened clearly, but a part of me is wondering if it was just my overactive imagination. Guys don't even open doors for girls anymore let alone help a girl when she drops her books. It makes me sad that gentleman are becoming an endangered species, but it's nice when you get a glimpse that maybe there are still a few out in the world.
Just know if this ever happens again, I'm getting some phone numbers ;) That's another shocking thing about this I wasn't dressed cute, my hair was in a bun, and yet they still helped me. Now do you understand why I see this as a type of miracle?

Adieu For Now

Alright...so...where to begin? Pretty much I'm overwhelmed. I just keep adding to my pile, and the only person that I am hurting is me. A few weeks ago my boss at the chocolate factory asked me if I would like to write on the blog on the chocolate factory website. I'll get paid for every post that I write, and he wants about two a week. I told him that I would love to because let's face it, I doubt I will be getting a job writing after I graduate. I'm not a pessimist, I'm a realist ;) I've been getting after him about what type of stuff he wants me to write so that I can get started and start saving more money. So today I was sitting in the library, eating my lunch and checking my email during my hour break. I saw an email from my boss with a list of topics that he wants me to write about. Now I knew that I would probably have to do some research for a lot of the posts, but I didn't realize what type of stuff he would want me to blog about.
I'm trying to see this as an opportunity for me to work on my researching skills. As many of you know I have been considering getting a Master's degree in Library Science, and I've been considering focusing on being a reference librarian, and they are all about the research. This semester I'm even taking a class on Reference and computer skills, so in a way this might help me in my class as well. I started working on my first post today while I was at work at Tuacahn, which did not work out because they had me do a backstage tour and then I had work at the gate, and I just didn't have a whole lot of time to focus. During the week should be better because I have more time since I only work about twenty hours during the week, the weekend is far too stressful for me.
I couldn't help myself it's too funny, and I'm sorry if I offended anyone, but come on it's hilarious!
So as I sit here venting about this new job that I have I think, my time would be much better spent researching. So you probably won't hear from me very often this semester because I will be working at or for one of my many jobs. I'm beginning to think that I'm about to reach my breaking point. So if I don't comment don't be upset with me because I still love you, just reading your blogs is not at the top of my list as much as I would love it to be because that used to be my favorite form of wasting time was blog stalking.
However, if you do want to read my blogs maybe I'll post them or at least the link to them so you can still hear my beautiful voice. And if anything really exciting happens you will see it on my blog.
On another note, I've decided that this summer I will be going to England for a study abroad program with the English Department. I'll probably be leaving right after graduation and I'll be gone for at least two weeks, I'm trying to convince Libby that she should fly out and meet me at the end of my trip and we could tour Europe for a little while. Of course I understand that this will be expensive but I'm going to do whatever I can to actually do it because let's face it when else will I get an opportunity like this?
For now "That's all Folks!" I hope you won't forget me, just remember I still love you all!
Did I mention to you that it's almost 1am and I've been working on homework and I need to go to bed so I can work all day tomorrow? Let me just say there's a lot of giggling on my side. Goodnight to y'all!

Hello World, I'm still here!

I've noticed that I haven't been posting very much lately, and I'm sure that most of you have probably noticed as well. Since my river trip in June I haven't really done much and hence the pause on posts. School starts in less than two weeks, and this is my final year until I have a Bachelors of Arts degree in Creative Writing with a minor in Library Science. And lucky for me I will be able to walk with my big sis next May since she was able to pass Chemistry this summer! Come Monday I will be getting my new roommate Kali, Cash's girlfriend.
So what else have I been doing this summer? Well I was able to read all of The Chronicles of Narnia series, as well as finish Harry Potter for the second time, and yes I did see the final movie, and bawled like a baby ;)
I've also been working lots and lots this summer. Yes I've been working three jobs this summer. I've mostly been working at the library, as well as the chocolate factory, and Tuacahn. So lots and lots of working to try and make up for my long Road Trip that I took earlier this summer.
Of course working at Tuacahn has its perks, I was able to see both shows, which were awesome, and NO I CANNOT get you tickets to see Little Mermaid.
Me and Trace with Prince Eric and Ariel.
Me and my friend Kymn with Danny and Sandy.
Sadly I have nothing else to look forward to this summer, but I did have lots of fun on the trips that I was able to take, and hopefully next summer I'll be posting pictures from mine and Libby's graduation trip to Europe! Also on a side note I've been looking into Graduate Programs in Library Science. There are several schools that have this program, alas none of them are in Utah ;) so maybe a year or two after I graduate from SUU I might be moving back East to continue on with my education, but that's still a little way away. So for right now I will be focusing on my final year at SUU and look to the future. Who knows what might happen in a year, maybe I'll finally find me a man ;) But I'll cross that bridge when it comes. As of right now I remain a single college student who is beginning to see the light at the end of this tunnel. I'm sure as soon as I'm out in the sunshine I'll come to another tunnel, but the best thing to do is trudge on and do it with a positive attitude and a big smile on my face.

Coming to a Close, and Enjoying the Adventures!

This semester is coming to an end, and the last few weeks I have been busy studying and writing papers. But now I am done for the semester, and looking forward to my birthday and my road trip! Since I've been busy writing essays and what not I haven't been able to show you all how much fun I've had with my roommates.
My roommates Allison and Naomi and I decided to make some smoothies with our frozen fruits.
We used my wine glasses that have been gathering dust for the last few months.
One night Allison and I were taking a break from doing homework and we decided to watch the LDS or Pink Pride and Prejudice. While we were watching it we decided to play hang man. Allison did the word Yahtzee and I had to go through the entire alphabet before I figured out what the word was. Allison thought this was pretty funny. Me not so much.
Today Allison and I finally ate at the Thai Restaurant Sweet Basils here in Cedar City. This was my first experience with Thai food and I thought that it was really yummy.

Allison did too.
After lunch at Sweet Basils we drove to St. George and went to this totally awesome park. I can't remember the name of it but it is right next to the Santa Clara river over in Green Valley. I like to think of it as an Adult park because most of the things there I would consider unsafe for little kids.
Allison entering the park, getting ready to cross the rope bridge.
Allison on this awesome twirly thing.
These chairs are so much fun, they made me a little dizzy after spinning around and around and around.
This was kind of embarrassing, but Allison thought it was funny and took a picture instead of helping me.
I really enjoyed this thing, but I was nauseous after Allison decided to spin me around really fast.
Here is the entire park. Doesn't it look fun?
Allison on the spinning chairs.
Even though the last few weeks have been stressful, I've been able to do a lot of fun things. I'll miss my roommates since they are both graduating, but it was definitely an enjoyable semester because of them!

Adventures of a Couple of Insane Girls

So over the last couple of weeks Allison and I have been having lots of fun.
On Saturday April 2, 2011 Allison and I had Mid-Night Margaritas. Yes this was Conference Weekend. No they did not have alcohol.
Here are the delicious Brazilian Lemonades that we made.
Enjoying our delicious Virgin drinks.
On Friday April 8, 2011 we were able to see Brian Regen in the SUU Centrum. Allison was there with her sister, and Kymn went with me. I'm really sad because we didn't get any pictures of the four of us :(

Kymn and me just before Brian Regen.
Last night a certain person who we'll call Allison H, no let's call her A. Haight decided that my teddy bear needed to be strangled, so this certain person took my poor, defenseless, sweet little brown bear Cozy and strung him up on her flower lights.
Here's the Crime Scene
He wasn't dead but he was bearly there, so I tried to save him.
Don't worry, I was able to save him, so he is still with us.
Don't expect me to leave him alone with a certain A. Haight. ;)

J.Wride Concert

Last Friday Allison and I went to the J.Wride concert on campus. They're a band from Salt Lake City. I heard them once before when they opened for John Allred last semester, and the sound wasn't very good so I was unable to really enjoy them, but this time the sound was better and I found that I really liked their music.

Allison took this video on her camera.
Me and Allison at the concert.
Both of us were kind of sick, Allison has a sinus infection and I have a cold, so it wasn't the funnest experience, but it was a lot of fun and I think that we both enjoyed the concert. We definitely enjoyed each others company and the great music!

A New Year, Full of Unknown Adventures

I know that it has been several weeks since I last blogged, but I didn't really have anything to blog about, so I thought that I would be like Libby and blog about nothing ;)
This year has started off with a new semester at SUU and some new goals.
One of my goals, and one of Libby's goals, but I'm doing better than she is. Anyway I have started going to the gym and have been very successful so far. Libby and I get up at 6:30 or 7 depending on the day and meet up at the gym. I'm trying to go five days a week, and so far I have been to the gym every Monday through Friday, except MLK day but I went running with Libby. According to my sister we are going to get in shape to run a 10K in a couple of months. I'm not really excited to do this, but according to my sister it will be good for me.
Other than that I have set some of my own goals
- Read 25 books, I try this every year but one year I will do it, and hopefully read more than 25 books!
- Be more outgoing.
- To not procrastinate
- To have more patience with certain people.
- Have a budget and keep it.
- Eat healthier and drink lots more water.
Those sound like good goals right?

Other than those goals I have some things to look forward to this year.
- A 10K. I'm going to try and be positive about this.
- A smoking hot body by summer! (I hope that going to the gym and running a 10k will pay off)
- August will be the beginning of my last year of college, at least of working towards my BA. Maybe I'll decide to work on my Masters Degree. We'll see.
- I'll be turning 23 this year, which really isn't that exciting.
- In May as soon as Libby and I are finished with our finals/papers we will be taking a two week road trip through Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah! I can't wait to see new places and see family!
- The unknown that will happen in the following year. You'll all have to come back and check out my blog when I write about all of my unknown adventures!

Other than all of that exciting stuff right now I'm back at SUU for another semester. I'm working at the library again and loving it. I am taking 16 credits of classes that I am mostly enjoying. I'm taking my last semester of French, thank goodness, but I am determined to actually be able to speak in French by the end of the semester! I'm taking Advanced Poetry which I'm loving. American Literature II, I just read The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and will get to read a lot of great literature I'm sure. I'm also taking a class called the Psychology of Creative Writing which I am taking with my roommate Allison. This class combines our two majors so it is really fun, she asks me questions about writing and I ask her stuff about Psychology, so it actually works out really well. I'm also taking a Library class, I decided to minor in Library Media, so that I can have an actual profession when I graduate, don't worry I'll only do that until I become a famous author! For institute I am taking Preparing for an Eternal Marriage, don't worry it doesn't mean that I'm getting married anytime soon, but you never know. Other than that I am working at the chocolate factory on Saturdays, and hopefully once concerts start up I'll be back at Tuacahn. You know me, busy, busy, busy.

So for now that is it, but as soon as I have an adventure, you will hear of it. You can always check out my writing blog, I have some good stories on there.
Enjoy!

My Beloved Portfolio

So this semester I had the pleasure of taking a Creative Nonfiction Writing class. This was by far my favorite class of the semester, yes I liked this even more than my Jane Austen/Virginia Woolf class.

Anyway the point of this is to show off my final portfolio. This is 75 pages of my best writing in the class this semester. It includes three larger projects including a memoir, (Libby once read somewhere that you should never read a memoir written by someone younger than 30, but I was required to do this), a Portrait/Biography which I wrote on my Great-Grandpa Jess Williams (all you Williams should learn more about him he was an awesome guy, I'll post my essay on the family blog so you can all read it), and an Essay of Place which I wrote about my road trip to Alaska with Libby and Audra.
My final Portfolio was a lot of work, and it is my pride and joy for the semester, and I just wanted to brag about what I did.

This is me sighing because I finally finished it!

Tomb by Allred

So as many of you know, from a previous post, I am in love with John Allred. He played at SUU again on Tuesday and Allison and I went and watched him. This time I was smart and took my camera. So here is a video for you to enjoy. I love his music, and he has a lot of covers, some of them I like better than the originals. If anyone wants to hear more I have like all of his music now.

Tomb (Probably my favorite song by him)

My new love: Allred

So Thursday night my roommate Allison dragged me to this concert at SUU. Allred was playing as well as two other bands. The first two bands really aren't worth mentioning, but Allred oh my gosh was he amazing!

I should have stayed after to get a picture with him but I had homework that I needed to get done and turned in. I bought some of his music after seeing him, which is on iTunes. He is really amazing and he lives here in Utah. I would definitely recommend him to everyone!

The joys of sharing a Room

So this is just a really funny story, that I thought might give a few people a good laugh, I sure laughed.
So a couple of weeks ago, it was a Sunday evening, I took some Benadryl to help with my allergies (which were terrible). Now as some of you know when I take Benadryl it knocks me out. Well lately I have been getting into the habit of having to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Well this particular night I woke up around 2 in the morning to use the bathroom. I was NOT fully conscious so when I went to the bathroom and the bathroom door opened when I was about a foot away kind of freaked me out. As some of you know I have been sharing a room this summer with my friend Allison. Well as I was about to walk in the bathroom she was walking out. Now when you are half asleep that is a bit of a shock, and I gave Allison a good scare. When we talked about it the next day I found out that I had been talking in my sleep moment before I woke up. Allison being in a weird state began thinking as she was in the bathroom. She was worried that I was walking in my sleep then she started thinking about what if she accidently woke me while I was sleep walking and I attacked her. Needless to say we had a good laugh. Oh the joys of sharing a room. I don't think Libby and I ever had any fun adventures similar to that when we shared a room.

Facebook Fast!

So Kaylie and I were talking and decided that because we are both overwhelmed with schoolwork and what not because of the end of the semester that we needed to cut something out of our life until the semester is over. Well since we are both addicted to facebook we decided that it would be best to take a break from it for the next couple of weeks. So Kaylie changed my password and I changed hers and we won't give each other the new passwords until we are done with the semester. I think that this will be really good for both of us since we spend a majority of our time on facebook. Kaylie thinks that she will become a fervent blog stalker...me I'm just hoping that this will give me more time to actually work on my papers, and actually finish them. So starting tonight I am going without facebook. I think that it will be interesting to see how many people will miss me on facebook...we'll find out. I think that I will probably extend my fast to blogging, so if you don't hear from me for the next couple of weeks, please forgive me, but I'll be off doing homework. So farewell until the semester is over and then I'll update everyone on my life.

Fun in Kanab

So this weekend I went and stayed with Kaylie and her family in Kanab. Thursday evening we walked down the main road of town and I got a quick tour of the town.
The next day, Friday, was when we did everything. We got up and went hiking on Squaw trail.

Then we stopped at Denny's Wigwam and got a picture of me hugging another inanimate object.

Then we went to "Little Hollywood" where they have a ton of old sets from movies filmed in the Kanab area. Here I am in Jail. Notice the creepy guy behind me.

Here I am being hanged for committing some terrible murder. It was really a misunderstanding. I could never kill anyone!

Here is my dead body, lying peacefully in a quite comfortable casket.

Here is Kaylie and me being silly. Look I'm "The Duke"

After that we went to lunch and then went and saw the sand dunes.

After the sand dunes we went and visited some other spots around Kanab, then went back to her parents and watched a couple of movies, because lets face it, there isn't really that much to do in Kanab, plus we were tired from all the stuff we did in one day.

The past two Weeks

So I've noticed that it has been a couple of weeks since I put pictures up on my blog, so I thought that I would share some pictures of my recent activities.

This is Aubrey and me waiting in line to see Alice in Wonderland in 3D. It was so awesome! I might just buy it when it comes out on DVD. It was a lot of fun and Aubrey and I were really giggly.

This video is from Enrichment night. We had a big Relief Society Birthday Party. We were planning for 30 people, we had about 20 people, but they consisted of 8 girls, 8 boys (who were our servers), the bishopric, Bishop's Wife, and our rep. It was pretty funny. We had balloons as decorations. After we were done and getting ready to clean up the guys took most of the balloons out into the hallway, and I followed them and took one of the balloons and sucked the helium out of it. I started talking and it made me laugh, which got all of the guys laughing. Anyway I started a trend. I had Kaylie record me on camera because I thought it was hilarious. I hope you all have a good laugh!

This was at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. Erin went with me to pick up Libby and we went down a few hours before to go shopping. I bought the cutest dress, and of course I wore it today. It is so cute and flattering!
And on a final note, I just got New Moon on DVD. Yes I know what I said in my last post. I will always love the Twilight movies and books, I just don't think that people should get into the mindset that Edward is going to be the man they marry. Hello he does not exist! He's a vampire, and a fictional character. That's it. Enjoy!

A Chocolatey Adventure

I know that most of you know that I used to...kind of still do...work at a chocolate factory. Well apparently those skills that I learned at the chocolate factory are still important in my everyday life. It also seems that I still get covered in chocolate.

So here are the center of the Oreo truffles that we made. They were really easy just cream cheese and smashed oreos.

Here they are the finished truffles! They are delicious!

Here we are: Kaylie, me, and Allison. We were the great candy makers! Kaylie thought it would be funny to rub the chocolate all over our faces. Yep it was pretty funny!

And testing our finished project. They were so delicious. You should all be jealous. They are so yummy and so rich! Just to note, I had forgotten the chocolate on my face.
