Adieu For Now

Alright...so...where to begin? Pretty much I'm overwhelmed. I just keep adding to my pile, and the only person that I am hurting is me. A few weeks ago my boss at the chocolate factory asked me if I would like to write on the blog on the chocolate factory website. I'll get paid for every post that I write, and he wants about two a week. I told him that I would love to because let's face it, I doubt I will be getting a job writing after I graduate. I'm not a pessimist, I'm a realist ;) I've been getting after him about what type of stuff he wants me to write so that I can get started and start saving more money. So today I was sitting in the library, eating my lunch and checking my email during my hour break. I saw an email from my boss with a list of topics that he wants me to write about. Now I knew that I would probably have to do some research for a lot of the posts, but I didn't realize what type of stuff he would want me to blog about.
I'm trying to see this as an opportunity for me to work on my researching skills. As many of you know I have been considering getting a Master's degree in Library Science, and I've been considering focusing on being a reference librarian, and they are all about the research. This semester I'm even taking a class on Reference and computer skills, so in a way this might help me in my class as well. I started working on my first post today while I was at work at Tuacahn, which did not work out because they had me do a backstage tour and then I had work at the gate, and I just didn't have a whole lot of time to focus. During the week should be better because I have more time since I only work about twenty hours during the week, the weekend is far too stressful for me.
I couldn't help myself it's too funny, and I'm sorry if I offended anyone, but come on it's hilarious!
So as I sit here venting about this new job that I have I think, my time would be much better spent researching. So you probably won't hear from me very often this semester because I will be working at or for one of my many jobs. I'm beginning to think that I'm about to reach my breaking point. So if I don't comment don't be upset with me because I still love you, just reading your blogs is not at the top of my list as much as I would love it to be because that used to be my favorite form of wasting time was blog stalking.
However, if you do want to read my blogs maybe I'll post them or at least the link to them so you can still hear my beautiful voice. And if anything really exciting happens you will see it on my blog.
On another note, I've decided that this summer I will be going to England for a study abroad program with the English Department. I'll probably be leaving right after graduation and I'll be gone for at least two weeks, I'm trying to convince Libby that she should fly out and meet me at the end of my trip and we could tour Europe for a little while. Of course I understand that this will be expensive but I'm going to do whatever I can to actually do it because let's face it when else will I get an opportunity like this?
For now "That's all Folks!" I hope you won't forget me, just remember I still love you all!
Did I mention to you that it's almost 1am and I've been working on homework and I need to go to bed so I can work all day tomorrow? Let me just say there's a lot of giggling on my side. Goodnight to y'all!

Hello World, I'm still here!

I've noticed that I haven't been posting very much lately, and I'm sure that most of you have probably noticed as well. Since my river trip in June I haven't really done much and hence the pause on posts. School starts in less than two weeks, and this is my final year until I have a Bachelors of Arts degree in Creative Writing with a minor in Library Science. And lucky for me I will be able to walk with my big sis next May since she was able to pass Chemistry this summer! Come Monday I will be getting my new roommate Kali, Cash's girlfriend.
So what else have I been doing this summer? Well I was able to read all of The Chronicles of Narnia series, as well as finish Harry Potter for the second time, and yes I did see the final movie, and bawled like a baby ;)
I've also been working lots and lots this summer. Yes I've been working three jobs this summer. I've mostly been working at the library, as well as the chocolate factory, and Tuacahn. So lots and lots of working to try and make up for my long Road Trip that I took earlier this summer.
Of course working at Tuacahn has its perks, I was able to see both shows, which were awesome, and NO I CANNOT get you tickets to see Little Mermaid.
Me and Trace with Prince Eric and Ariel.
Me and my friend Kymn with Danny and Sandy.
Sadly I have nothing else to look forward to this summer, but I did have lots of fun on the trips that I was able to take, and hopefully next summer I'll be posting pictures from mine and Libby's graduation trip to Europe! Also on a side note I've been looking into Graduate Programs in Library Science. There are several schools that have this program, alas none of them are in Utah ;) so maybe a year or two after I graduate from SUU I might be moving back East to continue on with my education, but that's still a little way away. So for right now I will be focusing on my final year at SUU and look to the future. Who knows what might happen in a year, maybe I'll finally find me a man ;) But I'll cross that bridge when it comes. As of right now I remain a single college student who is beginning to see the light at the end of this tunnel. I'm sure as soon as I'm out in the sunshine I'll come to another tunnel, but the best thing to do is trudge on and do it with a positive attitude and a big smile on my face.

My new Talent

I'm back at the Chocolate Factory for the holiday season, and I fill the internet orders, which includes baskets. I don't like doing creative stuff like that because I don't usually make stuff look very pretty, but they are forcing me to do it, and here is one of my finished baskets. Doesn't it look pretty?

They taught me how to make a bow look pretty. So now I have a new talent. Making baskets. I've made others but I keep forgetting to get pictures of them.

First Day at the Library

Today was my first day at my new job. Yes I have a new job! I got a job at the SUU Library!
I applied to the Library back in August when I first moved up to Cedar City. I went and talked to them but they never got back to me. But last week I was sitting on the couch in my apartment doing homework when out of the blue I got a call. You guessed it, it was the library calling to see if I was still interested in a job at the library, which was of course a big YES! So I went in for an interview the next day which was Friday. They told me that they would let me know by Wednesday. Well all week I prayed my heart out for this job and Wednesday rolled around. Nothing. I was a bit upset, but I decided that I would go in the next day just to make sure. I went in and asked if they had filled the position. Turns out that they hadn't yet but that they should know by the end of the day.
Well around 2:00pm I got a call, the best call ever, that the job was mine! So I went in today at 8am, which was a little difficult for me, but I woke up on time and even arrived a few minutes early. I am so excited to have this opportunity. I'll be working 10 hours a week, but I can pick up extra shifts and they said that I might be able to get more hours. So between the library and my other job in the English Department (which I am still able to keep) I will get 15 hours a week. Anyway just wanted to let everyone know my great news!

This has been one crazy week!

So a lot has happened this week.
First, let me just say that I've started school and I am loving SUU. I love living on my own, except for the fact that I have no money. I have really cool roommates, we're still a little standoffish, but not as much. I'm sure we'll get to know each other really well. I really love the SUU campus. I was walking around the east end (near where the Shakespearean festival does their green show) and it is so beautiful. I feel like I'm walking through the woods there are so many trees and it is so green and peaceful.
Second, I did finally get some semblance of a job. I am now working on campus in the English Department. I only work 5 hours a week, but it is a start. Pretty much I just lock up all of the classrooms and faculty offices, make copies, and do whatever the secretary asks me to do. I am working at Tuacahn on Saturdays still at least until the end of October or until I find something else in Cedar City. If anyone has any odd jobs that need to be done, and are willing to pay give me a call. I'm almost willing to do anything at this point.
Thirdly, I've become very active in my new college ward. I've gone to the firesides, ward prayer, family home evening, and I'm getting to know people in my ward. I'm trying to be more outgoing and talk to people...and guys, and am getting to know some really great people.
Funny story...so at FHE (family home evening) on Monday I tried to get to know a lot of people in my ward. I met and talked to the Relief Society President (who was just called on Sunday) and the next day (Tuesday) I got a call from the bishopric asking if I would come in and talk to them. (They had to call my roommate because they didn't know my last name or my phone number, but they knew that I was Jessica from Apt 11, so my roommate comes to me and says the bishopric wants to talk to you). So I quickly change and drive to the church and go in to talk to the bishopric. Now as soon as I got off the phone with them I knew that I was going to be getting a calling. Well as I got to the church I went to the clerk's office and I saw the relief society president in there talking to the bishopric. When I saw her I was thinking, "hmmm, this can't be good." So the 2nd counsilor of the bishopric took me aside and started asking me how school was going and where I was from and all that fun stuff, when he says: "We were wondering if you would be willing to be the second counsilor in relief society?" My first response was a mix between a laugh and a pfft. I wanted to laugh, in fact I did laugh as I walked to my car. Of course I agreed. The really funny fact of the matter is that my friend Kim, (who I hang out with a lot) was also called to be the second counsilor in relief society in her college ward only a week earlier. So I called her as soon as I was in my car and we laughed about it for a good ten minutes. Needless to say I am now in the relief society presidency in my ward, and I'll admit that I'm a bit nervous. So if anyone has any advice for me feel free to share it with me. Also, I guess that I am over Enrichment Night so if anyone has any good ideas for activities feel free to share!

Working the box office again!!!

So guess what!! I'm working at Tuacahn Center of the Arts again this summer. I started last week. I am in the box office once again and love the people I am working with. This summer the plays that we have going are Les Miserables, Sound of Music, and Big River. I am very excited to be able to go and watch the plays. I just wanted to brag about how I'll get to see all the plays a few times, and let everyone know how much I am enjoying working in the box office again this summer!!

Working at Tuacahn

This is me hard at work at Tuacahn. What show would you like to see?
