San Francisco Trip: Day 3

On our last day in San Francisco we went to church at Kim's sister's home ward, and were distracted by the three little kids. After church we drove to Oakland to drop Kim's sister Emily off at the Oakland airport. Before we dropped her off we stopped at the Oakland Temple.

I like the Oakland temple the grounds are beautiful!

Here are the famous Painted Ladies. Since Sunday was Valentine's Day, and since we weren't in Utah, people were out on dates of Valentine's Day. So the park next to the Painted Ladies was full of happy couples having picnics. How cliche!

Here's a close up side view of the Painted Ladies. They were so cool, I would love to live in one of those houses...well probably not I don't think that I would want to live somewhere famous where tourists come, I would like some privacy once in a while. Oh yes, and one of the houses was on sale...and it was the green one, my favorite out of all of the houses. It probably cost a few pretty pennies, more than I will ever have in my lifetime.

Our next stop was to Haight and Ashbury. For those of you who are not familiar with Haight and Ashbury it was the place that all of the hippies went to in the sixties and seventies. You might be familiar with the song "If you're going to San Francisco" well that song was written for this time and place. It was quite funny because there are still a lot of hippies that sit on the corners smoking. We didn't spend a lot of time here but we did go into a couple of stores and one of the ones I walked into they sold bongs! What the heck! I guess only on Haight and Ashbury.

This was a cool store on Haight and Ashbury. Look at it isn't it pretty and colorful!

Our last night in San Francisco we spent on the beach. Notice the Golden Gate Bridge lit up in the background. The beach we were on was China Beach and it was a high tide and we almost got stuck behind this huge rock! It was so much fun and we got soaking wet! It was a great way to end our fun and exciting trip!

San Francisco Trip: Day 2.

Saturday, San Francisco, California, Day 2.
We woke up to a beautiful foggy morning on Saturday February 13, 2010.
We first went to the Palace of Fine Arts.

Then we drove down Lombard St, the most crookedest street in the world.


Then we went to the Golden Gate Bridge, and took a short walk onto the bridge. Now I have a fear of bridges, but I bucked up and walked onto the bridge. I was fine until I looked over the edge or if I stopped I could feel the bridge vibrating under me, but I can say that I walked on the Golden Gate Bridge!

After the Golden Gate Bridge we went to Fisherman's Warf, and walked around and bought a bunch of souvenirs.

Then we went at Boudins and had clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl. It was delicious!

After Boudins we headed up to Ghirardelli Square, and of course I bought some chocolate...what I can't help myself!

We then took the cable car to Union Square, where we went to the Cheesecake Factory and got cheesecake.

I have to share my near death experience that I had on this trip. We were on the cable car and Erin and I were standing on the side and when we would pass another cable care we could literally touch the people in it. Well I didn't realize that there was another cable car about to pass us and I went to take this picture of myself. A lady who was also standing next to us grabbed my arm and pulled it into the car just as the other car passed us. It was really scary, and thank goodness someone was paying attention!

Our last stop of the day was China Town, we spent several hours here.


Saturday was our busiest, and funnest day, but make sure to come back, I still have more.

San Francisco Trip: Wicked!

So this weekend I went to San Francisco with my friends Kim and Erin! We flew in on Friday and pretty much went straight to see Wicked! which was amazing! I love the music, and now I love the play!

I would definitely recommend this musical to anyone! It is so good! It is funny and has a great story line. It's different from the Wizard of Oz but it is interesting to think what Glinda and the Wicked Witch of the West were like before Dorothy.
