Have you ever heard of pie shakes?

So today Allison and I tried a little restuarant called Sammy's. There is a location near by, so Allison and I decided to go and try it out. Sammy's is famous for their pie shakes. Allison and I ordered some burgers and fries, I got sweet potato fries, and some delicious shakes. Allison got the mint oreo pie shake and I got the red velvet cupcake shake. Both of them were amazing! They had a lot more flavors available, so don't be surprised if I go back for more.

After Sammy's, Allison and I went and saw Here Comes the Boom. I have to say that I loved it! However, I did have a hard time with the actual fighting, but other than that it was awesome!!! I will say that it made me cry a little bit, but for anyone who knows me well knows that I cry in a lot, A LOT, of movies. My brother will definitely like this movie, especially the UFC fighting.
As for the holidays, they were spent with family. A very chaotic week, but lots of fun. I got a bedspread, a sewing kit, and money to go shopping, and I got a lot of cute clothes. Let's see, I saw Breaking Dawn, Part 2, The Hobbit, Les Miserables, and Life of Pi over the last few weeks. Yes I enjoyed Breaking Dawn, I loved The Hobbit, Les Miserable was good, and Life of Pi was ok, I did enjoy it more than the book, but I felt like the book went on forever! Now back to The Hobbit, I absolutely loved it! Now I know that ya'll know how much of a Lord of the Rings fan I am. Well I totally enjoyed it, plus it had my newish love. A few years ago I discovered a wonderful British movie called North and South. It stars a beautiful man called Richard Armitage.

He is in The Hobbit and plays Thorin Oakenshield. Even as a dwarf I think he's beautiful, my roommate thinks I'm crazy, but I can't resist his beautiful blue eyes. Honestly I think Richard Armitage is my dream guy: tall, dark hair, amazing blue eyes, and British, seriously I think he's my soul mate, now I just need to find him and meet him ;)

I'm also in love with David Tennant, who is the 10th doctor on Doctor Who.

I think that it's official. I'm in love with British men. I think I definitely need to move to England.

The Best movie version of P&P.

Yes I admit that I am addicted to anything Jane Austen: books, movies, sequels, fan fiction, etc. This all started when my friend Jessi J and I watched the Pink Pride and Prejudice, also known as the LDS version. I believe it was my Junior year of high school and since then I've been hooked. After watching the movie I read the book which Jessi gave me as a Christmas present, then we watched the other movies like Sense and Sensibility where Alan Rickman plays Colonel Brandon, I think this is the only movie that he actually plays a good guy, but if there are others please let me know because I really like him as an actor. I don't remember the first time I watched the six hour P&P with Colin Firth but that is history because I will admit that I've seen the movie hundreds of times, but I can't help myself I love Mr. Darcy, I named my teddy bear that I like to cuddle up with Mr. Darcy, as well as my beautiful laptop. I know pathetic right?
All this started because of my wonderful neighbors, they're the ones that put me in the direction of majoring in Creative Writing, and I thank them.

But since eleventh grade this has exploded into something more. I have all the Jane Austen books including five copies of P&P, which includes an annotated version. I have a completed works of Jane Austen in one beautifully bound book, a complete set of all of Jane Austen's major works that I got second hand, and all of the books that either I bought or were given to me as gifts. I also have sequels to the Jane Austen novels that other people have written, and almost all of the movie versions of all of Jane Austen's works, even some silly ones like Bride and Prejudice. I think that I've seen all of the movies based off of Austen's novels such as Lost in Austen, but I refuse to buy that, to a Hindu version of Emma, which I had not realized was in Hindu.
If anyone feels the need to get me a present you  could get me the Annotated Persuasion, the Pride and Prejudice Graphic Novel which just makes me laugh, the Black and White Pride and Prejudice movie, which is really cheesy and funny, or pretty much any of the sequels. I've been wanting to read the diary series by Amanda Grange they are "Diarys" of the heroes in Jane Austen's major works. One of my favorite series that I have read were by Pamela Aiden it is a trilogy of Pride and Prejudice from Darcy's point of view. I read them and loved them, or course they were written by a woman so I don't really feel like it does Darcy the credit he deserves, I think that there needs to be a book written from Darcy's point of view by an actual man, that is one that would be interesting to read. If you are worried that I might have a certain book or movie, please ask me and I'll let you know whether you should get it for me or not. ;)
A couple of semesters ago I was also able to take a Jane Austen/Virginia Woolf class at SUU. I was able to read Emma and Mansfield Park for the first time. Now I have listened to all of Jane Austen's major works on audiobook, and have all of them on audiobook so that I can listen to them whenever I please, but there are still a few I have yet to read, but I'm working on it. This includes Sense and Sensibility and her Juvenilia works, I'm looking hopeful toward next summer to actually read these.
What I have been into lately, well pretty much ever since I started becoming an Austen-aholic is fan fiction, which include sequels to Austen's various novels, the novels from different point of views: Mr Darcy's Diary for example, and even some crazy ones such as Mr Darcy, Vampyre. However, I refuse to read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. No way will I read that book.

Right now I've been into the Mr and Mrs Darcy Mystery Series. The series starts at The Darcy's wedding and moves on from there. This series brings together romance, murder, adultery, and paranormal all into one. They're somewhat silly, but I can't help myself, once in a while I need an easy read for pure entertainment, and this definitely helps fill that quota. My mom likes to help me in my endeavor by bringing home audiobooks for me such as Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict which is about a woman from modern day California who wakes up in Regency England to discover that it wasn't exactly like she imagined full of gentlemen and love, but is instead filled with chamber pots, a bath every couple of weeks, and jerks. However in the end she finds herself back in California to discover that she does love the man she was fighting with at the beginning of the novel.
I know that I go through my different phases, heck I did a previous post on this very subject, but even though most of my obsessions eventually faded away: aka Twilight, Spice Girls, etc. some of my obsessions may have faded but are still there such as Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Grease, etc. Jane Austen is one obsession that I don't believe will ever really fade away. I know better than to expect to find me an exact replica of Mr. Darcy, I don't think that I could really handle Darcy all that well, but hopefully someday I will find the Mr. Darcy I've been waiting for. Gosh that sounds cheesy. Maybe that is why I love the stories as much as I do. I'm 23 and in Utah standards that's old enough to be a spinster, which is very similar to Jane Austen's time, but I know I'm not ready to fall in love. No I have lots of things to do before I even consider marriage, and as many of you know it has taken me a long time to come to this conclusion, maybe I'll be like Anne Elliot from Persuasion and I'll have Captain Wentworth walk back into my life at 27. Or I'll be like Elinor Dashwood from Sense and Sensibility and fall in love with Edward Ferras only to discover that even though he loves me that he was already promised to another woman, of course in the end his fiancee will fall for someone richer and he'll come find me and ask me to be his. I once hoped that I would be like 17 year old Catherine Morland and go on vacation and fall in love with Henry Tilney, but my vivid imagination gets carried away and I end up coming up with impossible solutions to why Henry's mother died and I get sent on a long trip all alone, to end with Mr Tilney arriving at my home weeks later to apologize for his anger and admit that there was some truth to what I had imagined.
Maybe someday I'll be able to write a story about how I fell in love. Someday I would love to be the next Jane Austen. As for now I'll just live through the different stories while still living my own story. Who knows where it will take me next? I think my next Jane Austen post should be a list of all of the Jane Austen works, and all the fan fiction that I have read. That would be a long post in itself, but I feel since my blog URL is ilovejaneausten.blogspot.com that I should divulge my Austen addiction once in a while on my blog. We'll see ;)

Inception

*This does contain spoilers*
So last night my roommate Allison, her friend Gabe, and I watched the movie Inception.

I was told that when I watched this movie that I had to sit and watch it without any distractions, and I would tell anyone who hasn't seen it that this is a good idea. I didn't really have any homework to do, so I was able to just sit and watch this movie.
I found this movie very intriguing. The concept is hard to understand so actually paying close attention to what is going on in the movie is very important. The plot is very original and very intense throughout. As most of you know I have a hard time with suspenseful movies, and I was literally on the edge of my seat while watching this film. I still don't fully understand what was going on, but it really made me think. I tend to have weird, vivid dreams but I can't even imagine having someone enter into my subconscious, although that would be really interesting, I'd like to know what my subconscious would say. The point of this is to say that I did enjoy this movie, I might have to watch it again. I also heard that there are two different ways to take the ending of the movie, I personally thought that it had a happy ending. However, I didn't quite know if he was in a dream or reality when he sees his children again because he spins the top and it doesn't fall, but it looks like it is beginning to before they cut to the credits, and earlier in the movie DiCaprio's character says that when he spins the top if it eventually stops spinning that is how he knows that he is in reality. I can understand how dreams can be better than reality, but that's what they are: dreams. That's all I have to say about this movie, if anyone can straighten out any of my confusions please leave a comment, I would like to understand the concept better.

Memories: The Lord of the Rings obsession!

So as many of you know there was a time in my life not so long ago when I was very obsessed with The Lord of the Rings. Now I will admit that I still love those books and movies. Anyway today I finished my homework early and was cleaning my side of the closet when I came upon one of my scrapbooks. So I thought that I would share one of my favorite pages with you.
This was when my friend Jessi J and I dressed up and went and saw the third movie in the theater. (It wasn't opening night because I had some school thing, but it was close enough.) Anyway I hope you enjoy this I definitely did.

Avatar: What say I?

Warning: If you haven't seen Avatar, which I think everyone else in the world has, and don't want to be spoiled don't read this post, because I'll ruin the ending for you!
I know I'm like eight months too late, but I thought that I would share my opinion of the movie Avatar

First of all I know that Libby is going to be mad at me for saying this. She had her heart set on me hating the movie, but I actually really liked it.
I did think that the story was weak and cliche, but I did enjoy the movie. The special effects were awesome! I thought the different plants and animals were very amazing and original. I did have a hard time taking the movie seriously at the beginning, but by the end I was pretty attached to some of the characters. I will say that I'm kind of sad that I didn't get to see it in theaters, I would have loved to see it in 3D. I did love the way it ended. I just have to say that I knew they would win the battle, come on people hate movies that end with the good guys losing. I did see Jake Sully becoming one of the Natives when the Natives tried to save Sigourney Weaver's character. I didn't like that it just ended with him waking up, but I guess they couldn't really add anything else to that. I thought it was so sweet when Neytiri held Jake in his human form, and she still loved him. There always has to be a moment of pure cheesiness in a love story, and sometimes those are the best parts.
Overall I did enjoy the movie. I might even buy it if it were on sale, unless someone wanted to give it to me as a gift...
So eight months after the big hype I did finally watch the masterpiece that is Avatar, and I liked it. So sorry Libby, but I think you knew all along that I would like the movie.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

Attention: If you have not read or watched Eclipse do NOT read this. There are some spoilers!

I know, I know. I'm slacking. First of all I waited to see the movie the Monday after it came out, and I wasn't as excited about this movie as I was with the first two. However, I was excited to see it. So Monday afternoon my friend Kim, her sister, and I went and watched the movie.
I know that you all know that I am pretty much obsessed with the Twilight series, especially the books, so I'm going to share my opinion about the movie.
I thought that the movie was better than the first two. Jacob is still hot, Edward not so much. Bella is an idiot and I think that the movies and the books could do with a bit less of her. Speaking of the books, I think that they should have been written in third person instead of first person. I do like that it feels like you're Bella, but she could have done so much more and gotten rid of some of the inner emotional crap we get from Bella. Anyway, getting back to the movie Eclipse. I thought that there was a good balance of corniness and action. The battle scenes were awesome and very intense. I did think that the first half of the movie moved really fast and I understand that they needed to cut out a lot, but I think that they could have moved a bit slower. I also think that if someone had never read the books might not understand a lot of what was happening. I think my favorite scene was the scene in the tent when Edward and Jacob were talking. I thought it was a great scene plus I thought the way Jacob was laying looked really uncomfortable. I also thought the bedroom scene was rather humorous. Apparently I found more to laugh at then to really scorn. I did like how they showed Rosalie and Jasper's pasts. I thought the way they moved through their lives was really well done. I think what I loved most in this movie was Jasper and Alice's relationship. It actually shows them being affectionate and it was really sweet.
Overall I did like the movie and I will probably give it five stars on Netflix, and we all know that I will buy it as soon as it comes out on DVD.

The past two Weeks

So I've noticed that it has been a couple of weeks since I put pictures up on my blog, so I thought that I would share some pictures of my recent activities.

This is Aubrey and me waiting in line to see Alice in Wonderland in 3D. It was so awesome! I might just buy it when it comes out on DVD. It was a lot of fun and Aubrey and I were really giggly.

This video is from Enrichment night. We had a big Relief Society Birthday Party. We were planning for 30 people, we had about 20 people, but they consisted of 8 girls, 8 boys (who were our servers), the bishopric, Bishop's Wife, and our rep. It was pretty funny. We had balloons as decorations. After we were done and getting ready to clean up the guys took most of the balloons out into the hallway, and I followed them and took one of the balloons and sucked the helium out of it. I started talking and it made me laugh, which got all of the guys laughing. Anyway I started a trend. I had Kaylie record me on camera because I thought it was hilarious. I hope you all have a good laugh!

This was at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. Erin went with me to pick up Libby and we went down a few hours before to go shopping. I bought the cutest dress, and of course I wore it today. It is so cute and flattering!
And on a final note, I just got New Moon on DVD. Yes I know what I said in my last post. I will always love the Twilight movies and books, I just don't think that people should get into the mindset that Edward is going to be the man they marry. Hello he does not exist! He's a vampire, and a fictional character. That's it. Enjoy!

Sherlock Holmes: What More Can I Say?

So I have seen the new Sherlock Holmes movie three times now. I think I have something new to add to my obsessions list. It is so good! I love it. It is funny, action packed, and mysterious. Of course, now that I have seen it three times there isn't really any mystery left, but it is so good. So if anyone is thinking of seeing it, go! If you need someone to go with I'll go. I think, now that I've seen the movie, that I will be reading the books this summer. That is my new goal for the year. To read all of the Sherlock Holmes books. Now I can't wait for the summer! Yippee!

Me and My Obsessions

So the reason for this blog is because I was a bit disappointed that I did not get any cutouts this year. For the last two years I got cutouts for Christmas, and I have to admit that I was kind of hoping for Jacob without a shirt ;-P
Anyway as I was thinking about how upset I was about not getting a cutout this Christmas I realized that a life size of Jacob without a shirt is not important, besides I got a funny present for Christmas anyway, but I won't tell you what it is yet. But as I was thinking about not getting a cutout for Christmas it made me think of all of my many obsessions. As many of you know I have an obsessive personality, especially when it comes to books and movies and even music sometimes. This is also why I stay away from the hard stuff ;)

Anyway since my latest obsession is Twilight, and since I'm thinking of switching from Team Edward to Team Jacob, (okay not really, but you have to admit that Taylor Lautner is a lot more attractive than Rob Pattinson, especially now that Taylor Lautner has a very sexy body), I was hoping that someone would be funny and give me Jacob for Christmas, but since no one did, I got something funny in place of it. A lady I work with, who I love terribly, gave me Twilight the board game. I haven't had a chance to play it yet, but I've looked through it and let me just say that it is hilarious. Which brings up another point, I think this is a new collection I'm starting Trivia games. I now have Lord of the Rings Trivial Pursuit and Twilight the Board Game.


What next? Why can't I find a guy to get obsessed over, and not in that psycho/stalker obsessed way. Anyway, I don't want to sound desperate, besides I'm too young to get married just yet. ;D

The Twilight Saga: New Moon

So tonight I went and saw The Twilight Saga: New Moon with my friend Kelli. I have to say, this movie is much better than Twilight. I liked Twilight, but there are many details I don't specifically like about that movie, but New Moon is much better. The acting is better, the special effects were awesome, they probably could have done better with the wolves, but they were pretty cool anyway. I have to admit that I might be a wolf fan, because the wolf pack is extremely attractive and built! I don't like Kristen Stewart as an actress, and I don't like Rob Pattinson as an actor very much either. Overall, I really enjoyed the movie, it was much better than the first movie. If anyone wants to go, I'd be happy to go with you ;-)

I saw it Again!!

So I just wanted to let all of my fellow Twilighters know that I went and saw Twilight again, this time with Libby and my Mom. I know I was pretty critical of it, and there are still many things I don't like about it. However, seeing it again and knowing what to expect I liked it better the second time around. So if you don't like it the first time, try seeing it again and see if you like it then.

Twilight: The Movie...dun, dun, dun

So just to let all of you Twilight Fans know I went and saw the first showing of Twilight last night at midnight. Let me just warn you "IT IS NOT AS GOOD AS THE BOOK!!!!" I won't give any spoilers but I will let you know that it moves rather quickly, and it is kind of "choppy." I did enjoy the movie, but I went to it not expecting anything, so I wasn't really disappointed. I of course was disappointed but I couldn't help it, I did want it to follow the book a lot better than it did. I probably will see it again just to see if it gets better the more you watch it. So if anyone wants someone to go with I'm available.
I did dress up again and I looked really good, I will be posting pictures in the next couple of days so make sure to look back. I did wear gold colored contacts again but these ones were darker so they worked better with my eyes, so pay close attention to my eyes when I post my pictures.
P.S. Sorry if this doesn't make a lot of sense, I'm running on like 3 hours of sleep. I had to get up to be to my eight o'clock class this morning, and I feel like a zombie!

Bridge to Terabithia

Bridge to Terabithia is the first book that I have read this year. It is a great book, and a tear-jerker. After I finished the book I rented the movie. I will admit that the book was better but the books are always better than the movies. However, the movie was so good. I bawled. I began the movie not expecting it to be just like the book, because if you expect the movie to be exactly like the book you are setting yourself up for disappointment (a piece of advice for when you go to see the movie Twilight, don't expect it to be exactly the way you imagined it). Anyway, I recommend everyone read the book Bridge to Terabithia then watch the movie. They are both really good, and they're clean. A great family movie!!!
