My Jessie Girl

So today I was listening to Rick Springfield's song Jessie's Girl, and I realized that as I was singing a long with the song these were the words that I was actually singing. I would like to thank my cousin Ethan and his wife Libby for the inspiration behind this song! And bytheway, I did change the words, mainly just the ones in the chorus. The original line is I wish that I had Jessie's girl and I changed it to I wish that Jessie was my girl, etc.
My Jessie Girl
Jessie is a friend,
Yeah, I know she's been
A good friend of mine
But lately something's changed
That ain't hard to define
Jessie's got herself a guy
But I want to make her mine
And she's watching him with those eyes
And she's lovin' him with that body,
I just know it
Yeah 'n' he's holding her in his arms late,
Late at night
You know,
I wish that I had that Jessie girl,
I wish that Jessie was my girl
Where can I find a woman like that
I play along with the charade,
there doesn't seem to be a reason to change
You know, I feel so dirty
When they start talking cute
I wanna tell her that I love her,
But the point is probably moot
'Cos she's watching him with those eyes
And she's lovin' him with that body,
I just know it
And he's holding her in his arms late,
late at night
Like she's his girl,
I wish that Jessie was my girl
Where can I find a woman,
Where can I find a woman like that
And I'm lookin' in the mirror all the time,
Wondering what she don't see in me
I've been funny,I've been cool with the lines
Ain't that the way
Love supposed to be
Tell me, where can I find a woman like that
You know, I wish that I Jessie was my girl,
I wish that Jessie was my girl
I want that Jessie girl,
Where can I find a woman like that,
like that Jessie girl,
I wish I had that Jessie girl,
I want, I want that Jessie girl

So did you change the words, or is that really how the song goes...I'm confused. It could be that it's just been a long day...any how, I could use some explaining, or an early to bed night?

That's exactly how the song should've been written in the first place, right?! I'm so glad Ethan and I have inspired you! We always think about you when we here that song.
